Family to Family: Walk in Their Shoes
April 5-19
Participants: Anyone
Missions Center and Office
This is a meaningful, hands-on mission service opportunity designed for families of all ages to do at your convenience! Walk in Their Shoes is designed to help children and adults better understand the daily challenges faced by kids living in poverty—right here in our community.
Through age-appropriate activities, stories and guided conversations, families will learn about the impacts of food insecurity, lack of basic clothing and limited access to essential resources. The goal is not only awareness, but compassion—and action.
How You Can Participate:
1. Stop by the Missions Center on Sunday, April 12 to get your Walk in Their Shoes packet.
2. Donate a new pair of shoes for the school’s care closet (optional).
3. Help your children understand how small acts of generosity can make a big difference.
Together, we can meet practical needs while teaching our children the importance of empathy, generosity and service. Learn, give and serve alongside us as we support students in our community.
This event is part of our larger GO Weekend Care Closet Collection and GO Weekend Care Closet Creation initiatives, in which we come alongside school social workers to create Care Closets for our local schools, stocked with essential items (socks, underwear, hygiene products, school supplies, water bottles, etc.). These closets will provide students access to fill immediate needs so that they can stay comfortable, confident and focused on learning.
